Food Assistance Program
At Skoolie Foundation, we believe that food sustainability is not a privilege—it’s a human right. Partnering with Hunger Fighters across the county, we work to build a bridge from hunger to hope, ensuring that no one is left behind. On our campus, we grow fresh produce in our community garden, prepare and distribute Skoolie Bags of Hope, and operate a food pantry to meet immediate needs. Beyond our own programs, we provide resources and support to other pantries throughout the area, strengthening the entire food network. We are proud to collaborate with community partners such as Lend a Hand, Praiseheleluja Food Distribution, Spanaway Free Pantry, Puyallup Food Bank, Tacoma Boys, and Grocery Outlet Puyallup, to name just a few. Together, we are creating a sustainable system where families and individuals can move from being hungry to being fed—and from surviving to thriving.
At the heart of our campus, the Community Garden & Food Distribution Program ensures that no one in our community goes hungry. Our garden is tended by the community, for the community—providing fresh produce while also fostering unity, skills, and hope. In 2054 alone, over 5,000 pounds of food were distributed to families, veterans, and individuals experiencing food insecurity. Through free on-campus food distributions and outreach to partner neighborhoods, we not only fill empty plates, but also plant seeds of empowerment and sustainability. Every seed sown and every meal shared reflects our belief that food is not a privilege—it’s a human right.
The Skoolie Greenhouse Buses Program is a first-of-its-kind initiative that transforms full-size buses into mobile, off-grid greenhouses—bringing fresh food, farming education, and hope directly into underserved neighborhoods. By removing the roofs and replacing them with greenhouse materials, these buses become sustainable farms on wheels, powered by solar energy and rainwater collection systems. They not only grow healthy produce for families in need but also serve as classrooms where children, young adults, and neighbors learn the lifelong skill of gardening—from planting seeds to harvesting crops. With the support of community street teams, each bus becomes a hub of empowerment, teaching food security, pride, and self-reliance. But we cannot do this alone—we need donors, sponsors, and volunteers to help us grow this vision. Join us in planting seeds of change, feeding families, and building a sustainable future for generations to come.
