We understand the importance of offering alternatives to traditional shelters and camp zones, and our innovative approach centers around nightly shelter services provided through our Skoolie Bus and Tiny Home Program. With a goal to grow, we are looking at a full rehabilitation effort for our community in this program. We will focus on growing our shelters in a community environment on land once we have secured the land. At that point the shelters on our property will allow staged growth. Earned extended stays. One primary Shelter will be given employment opportunity to help with monitoring on site. This gives incentives for our community to help grow towards permanent housing along with helping our community members regain hope and with personal self confidence.
At Skoolie Safe Parking, our mission is to provide safe, secure, and dignified parking spaces for individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. We aim to create a supportive environment that prioritizes the well-being and safety of our residents while fostering community integration and mutual respect. Through our commitment to comprehensive security measures, strict regulations, and additional supportive services, we strive to empower individuals to transition towards stability and self-sufficiency.
The Skoolie Cooling and Heating Station project repurposes gutted school buses to provide climate-controlled, off-grid shelters for individuals experiencing homelessness during extreme weather conditions. These mobile units are equipped with solar-powered air conditioning and heating systems, along with cots and security measures, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment. The project aims to offer immediate relief during heatwaves and freezing temperatures, enhancing the well-being of vulnerable populations in our community.
The Skoolie Shopping Cart Project aims to partner with local retail stores to retrieve, clean, and return shopping carts found in homeless camps and other areas. By pressure washing and sanitizing the carts before returning them, this project helps clean up the community while providing employment opportunities and fostering stronger neighborhood connections.
At the Skoolie Veterans project, our mission is to honor the service and sacrifice of our nation's veterans by providing them with tailored residential housing solutions and fostering a supportive community environment where they can thrive with dignity and independence. The Skoolie Foundation's Land Preservation Project aims to secure land through ownership or leasing to support our mobile shelter programs and provide a sanctuary for holistic therapy. This project is designed to offer a safe and peaceful environment where individuals can unplug, recenter, and engage in various healing practices. As well has house our mobile shelters for temporary housing sites.

The basic cost to convert a retired school bus into a Mobile Skoolie Shelter are fairly simple. Cost of the school bus purchase between $12,000 and $20,000, materials needed to build the interior are estimated at $18,000, with the labor being the remaining factor and that is about it. Now the hard costs are much more advanced. Security monitoring system, staff to insure the safety of the person utilizing the facility, Clean linen's and cleaning the interior daily. Draining the grey water and black water tanks. and much more. A lot has gone into the planning and development of each Mobile Skoolie Shelter.
This ia one of the best features. We have designed our Mobile Skoolie Shelters to be 100% off grid capable. so they are solar powered!
Where ever we are needed the most and who ever has scheduled our calendar dates. Our Shelters are mobile giving our organization the ability to transport them anywhere.
It is our goal to obtain land where ever we have a chapter presence. This land will be used to park all of our shelters for more stable placement. We will have One primary shelter that will be our local response at all times.
In the event of a local emergency our Mobile shelters can be mobilized withing the day to help out our community.
