Skoolie Resource Hub - Local

Business Center

Skoolie Foundation Resource Hub Business Center

Everyone deserves a place to start over. The Skoolie Foundation Resource Hub Business Center is a welcoming, judgment-free space where neighbors experiencing homelessness or hardship can access the tools, support, and connection they need to move forward — all under one roof.

Far more than a building, the Resource Hub is where dignity meets opportunity. Whether you need a quiet place to work, help navigating services, or simply someone in your corner, our doors are open.

What you'll find at the Hub:

  • Drop-in support — A safe, welcoming place to step inside, get warm, and be treated with respect.
  • Resource navigation — Guidance connecting you to housing, food, healthcare, ID and benefits assistance, and our other Skoolie programs.
  • Tools to move forward — Access to the practical resources that help people rebuild stability and independence.
  • A path to all of Skoolie — Your gateway to our mobile shelters, Hygiene Haven, Fighting Hunger Program, and more.

No appointment. No judgment. Just help, hope, and a community that believes in you.

Financial Literacy Program

Financial Literacy: Building a Foundation That Lasts

Getting back on your feet isn't just about today's needs — it's about the skills and confidence to stay there. That's why financial literacy sits at the heart of the Resource Hub.

Our Financial Literacy Program meets you wherever you are on your journey. No question is too basic, and there's no judgment — just practical, real-world knowledge that puts you back in control of your money and your future.

What you'll learn:

  • Budgeting that works in real life — Simple, sustainable ways to manage what you have and plan for what's ahead.
  • Banking basics — How to open and use a bank account, avoid unnecessary fees, and keep your money safe.
  • Understanding credit — What credit is, how to build it, how to repair it, and how to protect yourself from predatory lenders.
  • Saving toward your goals — Strategies to start building stability, whether that goal is housing, a car, or simply a cushion for emergencies.

When you pair these skills with our Skoolie Work Program, you don't just find a job — you build a future. Financial confidence is the bridge from surviving to thriving.

Free Furniture Voucher Program

Free Furniture Voucher Program: Turning Empty Rooms Into Home

An apartment with four bare walls isn't a home yet. For someone leaving the streets or escaping a dangerous situation,

a bed to sleep in and a table to sit at can mean the difference between starting over and giving up.

The Skoolie Foundation Free Furniture Voucher Program helps our neighbors turn a new space into a real home — with dignity, and at no cost. Whether you're moving out of homelessness or rebuilding after domestic hardship,

we're here to help you walk into a space that feels like yours from day one.

How it helps:

  • Essential furnishings — Vouchers toward the basics that make a house livable: a bed, seating, a table, and other core pieces.
  • A fresh, dignified start — No hand-me-down shame, no red tape — just real support for a real new beginning.
  • Safety and stability first — Priority support for those leaving domestic violence or unsafe situations, because everyone deserves a safe place to land.
  • Wraparound care — Paired with the Resource Hub's other services, so furnishing your home is one part of a bigger fresh start.

Because no one should have to sleep on the floor of their own second chance.

Upstream Program

Upstream: Reaching Kids Before Hardship Defines Them

Some children in our community are doing their homework by the dome light of a car. They're showing up to school carrying a weight no kid should have to carry — and too often, they miss out on the simple joys that make childhood, childhood.

The Upstream Program exists to change that. Working hand-in-hand with Pierce County schools through the federal McKinney-Vento program — which identifies students experiencing homelessness — we make sure these kids aren't left on the sidelines. Through our voucher program, we bring them to fairs, games, and community events: a day to laugh, to play, to feel like they belong.

Why "Upstream": It's easy to help people only after they've gone under. We'd rather go upstream — reaching children early, before hardship hardens into hopelessness, and reminding them that their community sees them and believes in them.

How it works:

  • A trusted partnership — We coordinate with school district McKinney-Vento liaisons, who confidentially connect us with families in need.
  • Vouchers for joy — Free access to local events and experiences that these kids would otherwise never get to have.
  • Dignity, always — Families are served quietly and respectfully. No spotlight, no stigma — just a kid getting to be a kid.
  • A door to more — Connecting families to the full range of Skoolie support, from food to shelter to the Resource Hub.

Every child deserves a memory that has nothing to do with what they've lost — and everything to do with what's still possible.
